Recently, the launch of MapsTell took place in South Africa, and since I’m a big fan of the country, I had the opportunity to deliver the accreditation training there. We offered two training sessions in Johannesburg, followed by one in Cape Town. I traveled to Johannesburg on my own and was picked up by the local ‘ambassador’ for MapsTell. We stayed in a beautiful guesthouse and immediately checked out the training venue. It were wonderful and intense days with very enthusiastic participants. I noticed they truly wanted to get the most out of the training — it’s quite costly here to be able or be allowed to attend something like this. For me, it was a fun challenge, with all kinds of questions, examples, and situations coming up. Initially, we only had two registrations for the training in Cape Town, so the ambassador decided to cancel that session due to the costs. But after a few days of training in Johannesburg, word apparently spread quickly, and we ended up with ten participants in Cape Town! The bonus for me was that I had free time the last five days in Cape Town — so I was able to really enjoy myself. I revisited familiar places, did a wine tasting, had sunny lunches, and more. As Cruijff once said: “Every disadvantage has its advantage!” We were also invited to a real South African braai at one of the participants’ homes — it was absolutely fantastic! Hopefully, there will be a follow-up next year — I’ll definitely be there again!
